So, I went to my job interview today. And I start work tomorrow morning. I am very excited. If there were a way to do it over livejournal without looking like a noob, I would sing and dance with victory.

I owe deep and sincere gratitude to the following people:
-Alysa, who sent me the link to the job posting on Craig's List
-Eric Bridgeland and Alice Cook, who provided me with references
-Mary C. Greengo and her husband Tom, who own Queen Mary's Tea Room and Restaurant and gave me the interview and the job
-Everyone who's been pulling for me during this whole job search--seriously, thank you all (even those of you who aren't going to read this)

So I'll be on a trial period, pretty much, for a couple weeks to make sure I can handle everything and that I'll fit in with everyone, but I don't see any kind of possible problem. They said they'd had a good feeling about me before the interview and that I'd confirmed it. They don't know the half of it. I am going to make damn sure that I am everything they could possibly want and more. I am determined to make that place successful, and to make everyone feel like gold while I do it. I wanted that before I even sat down with them.

Yes, I am feeling very good about this. And not just because this will be a great place to work, but because I am employed. I can stop worrying about defaulting on my student loans, about breaking my lease, about not getting benefits, and instead I can look forward to eating real food and generally not worrying about money anymore. I'm not going to start throwing away money just because I think I can, but I will most likely be able to afford a few luxuries, such as a gym membership, Netflix DVDs, and lunch meat sandwiches. And paying more than the minimum on my student loans every month. Ha ha! Debt will not follow me for long! Just give me a few years. Or ten. Hmmmm.

But I have a job!

Last night they had all three types of cheesecake. Did you ever have the chocolate?

Excellent!

Does the place serve tea, or just sell it?

If they serve, Jason and I may have to come be pesky customers some time when we're having an Enchanted Tea Garden jones.

They do sell tea, but they are primarily a restaurant. To quote the employee manual: "We serve the elegant, feminine, Victorian experience of dining." They have a huge pastry case in front, and they serve everything on silver and china and stuff. And the best part is, you don't have to dress up or anything. In the interview, Mary said that it doesn't matter if the customers are wearing shorts or a ball gown, we treat them all like royalty. Isn't that just SO COOL? And it would be great to have you and Jason come in. Pesky customers, my eye--you would be guests of honor.

Congrats, Toddathan! If I drank tea, I would visit. :P Maybe that tea-drinking Brian will drag me along like a reluctant husband.
